I wish i could find how they were transported and set in the post hole. The average Limestone weighs about 150#/cu ft. so those posts weigh over 1/2 ton. Transported by wagon and a team of horses is a given but how in hell they handled that corner post on that grade is beyond my imagination. If the wagon was on the hill top i suppose the post was slid down to the hole. I had that question when i took the pic and still have that question.

They probably rigged a tripod, and used a Block and Tackle to hoist it into the hole.

They would have needed to haul some logs in from a tree stand, maybe 50 miles away for that, but determination pays off.
