Hi all,

Just changed a light fitting on the landing of the house which has a wall switch both upstairs and downstairs - ie, about three wires connecting to it. I thought I had connected it all correctly, but NO!

I'm not fusing the whole house with what I've done, instead the new light is constantly on no matter what the switches do, or it just doesn't light up at all if I change the combination of the wires.

Can you help? Or do you have a diagram I might be able to follow.

Thanks so much,

James

Hi James

I quickly put this circuit drawing together for you. The common terminal on the switch has ether a different color screw or is marked as such. The common terminal goes to the light or power, depending on witch switch it comes from.

I drew the circut in side the switches to help show how the circut works.
