Hello:

I posted this image a while back and was told it was the correct layout. I have wiring diagram book at my home and the book shows the incoming hot on the top screw for the light switch when running power through the light. Does it matter which hot goes on the top or bottom screw in this scenario?

It doesn't matter which screw you put the hot to on a single pole switch. I like to use the red for the switched power for lights and the black for the unswitched power but either way is correct.
