Hello,

I am asking a question in regard to light dimming. Currently I am dealing with a problem when a light is set at half intensity via dimming, it starts buzzing. When it's set at full brightness, it stops buzzing. I don't mind keeping it at full brightness, however:

Over time, when the light loses it's brightness, will it revert back to a dimming, buzzing state, as if it were new and set to half intensity? Assuming it is still connected to the dimmer...

Thanks all for your time! If I'm in the totally wrong place, let me know. I don't really know where to ask this kind of question...

Which type of bulbs you are using ??

The indentscent bulbs or Compact flourscent bulbs ??

With the indentscent bulbs I will suggest to change to diffrent manufacter bulbs somecase it will slove the issue with buzzing noize I will try that route first if not then the dimmer can be the curpit.

For the CFL { compact flourscent light } if they are listed to work with dimming purpose some case you may have to change the dimmer switch to solve the issue or get differnet CFL some case it will clear up a bit but with CFL they are little diffrent than indentscent bulbs when go to dim mode.

Merci,
Marc

salut marc,

i'm actually referring to the backlights in lcd monitors. they suffer from the same problem as dimmers, in the way that anything below maximum brightness will result in a buzz. i'm pretty sure they are cfls.

most lcd television have buzzing backlights, but i am concerned with their lifespan in conjunction with the buzzing, if it will come back...
