Earlier this year I had some work done on my house. One of the stipulations I put on the contractors I hired was that they couldn't use "day labor" (it's a big issue in my area). I was told that in order to be insured, a contractor couldn't use day laborers. True or not?

Day labor comes in a couple of types. If you pick them up off of a street corner, they are typically not covered by ins. or WC. The ones that I use come from a company that specializes in day labor, that company covers them.

Thx. I was referring to the day laborers who congregate at the local 7-11 or Home Depot each morning.

Those would be Bob's 'soup kitchen' guys. Here, they reek, are hungover and may start drinking early (like 10 AM). Don't want them near my jobsites.
