Hi guys im having a little trouble leveling a slab to eventually install a pergo floor over. originally half the floor had laminate on it and the other half had been paved with bricks. the slab is two different levels as the bricks were much thicker than the laminate so i have to raise the lower level so the pergo can go on evenly. my though was just to poor a thin concrete slab with some remesh and then finish it with 1/2 in self leveler. Is this a good plan? will my slab be too thin? Do i need to chip out all the left over mortar from the bricks?

thats a great suggestion the depth varies from about an inch and a half to about three inches so it does seem like the concrete pad would be too thin. I have heard you can pour self levelers up to 5 inches deep if you add aggragate does anyone have any experience with this.

we could easily do this work for you &, if we do it incorrectly, you could sue us,,, 1st time out of the gate, i wouldn't suggest diy work - if its f'd up, who do you sue ?
think your idea's the right 1 - put in a reg conc slab to bring up to grade ( fiber or mesh if you will ) THEN overlay w/self level - durock's good but just about all the bagg'd mixes are good too
