One drawback to use the LED fixtures that can be daisey-chained is being stuck with the factory supplied hardware and cables. Like this one:
So here's my question - if I'm not satisfied with the length or the configuration of the supplied cable
(ideally I'd like a 6' or 8' cable with an OFF/ON switch nearest the plug and that plug being a flat plug)
where can I get the pieces to either select alternative lengths or (better still) the hardware pieces, cable, plug, and switch, to assemble my own.
Anybody seen a source for this hardware? Or know the name for that 3-wire junction they all seem to use?
TIA

Looks proprietary to me. You might get lucky searching the web, places like monoprice.com etc. or contact the manufacture directly and see if they have some type of connector that can help you out.

Other than that, you would have to hack it yourself like you said. I'm sure someone here can advise you how to do it.

Did you buy an additional lighting product of which the connector was incomparable with those of the previous purchase?

If so, why did you not check that the connector on the lighting product matched the existing connectors before you bought it?

(Or, did you buy the connector(s) prior to buying the lighting product concerned ?)

Never mind.
The cost of these products is likely to be so cheap that it should not matter.

Learn from the experience!

Of course, if you have any electrical skill (and the operational voltage of the products concerned is the same) all such items can be "adapted".
Whether the adaptions will be up to "code" specifications in your area is quite another matter.

In my experience (yes I've tried it) your suggestion of adapting hardware to my problem of needing a longer power cord is impractical. Especially for LED fixtures that actually run on remarkably low power.

Also, in my original post, I tried to comment that I can't find the individual line switches, 3 conductor cords and polarized connectors.

As to the other LED fixture. It was a chance purchase because an 18" light would come in handy in my shop.

This is my 4th or 5th stab at installing LEDs and I remain puzzled by the lack of uniformity on the hardware esp the connectors.

https://www.amazon.com.au/Light-Connector-Extension-Integrated-Fixtures/dp/B07PPR4TCG is a 6 foot cord with a suitable connector.

As for "flat plugs", I realize that you are limited in your choice in North America but this extension lead may be of assistance, and there are others.
https://www.amazon.com/FIRMREST-187..._31?keywords=flat+plug&qid=1581336481&sr=8-31

In-line cord switches for fitting onto either of these leads are also available.

Of course, this one may be better, since it is designed to allow the Earth(Ground) connection to "pass through" and Australian regulations require that double pole switches be used in such situations. (It is also available elsewhere in white.)
