first let me say this our fault so i need to fix it. the apartment is a converted garage. i dont know too much about the material but i know there is sheetrock on the ceiling, insulation between the sheetrock and then the actual roof. there are shingles on the roof as well.
my son managed to make a hole through the sheetrock all the way through and out the roof. this happened about 5 weeks ago. the hole is about 3/4inch wide. he patched the sheetrock and painted over the hole so noone would notice and didnt tell me. well i guess he didnt realize the hole went all the way through.
this morning it was raining extremely hard and when i woke up there was a bubble about 9 inches long and 6 inches wide in the paint almost 2 feet from the original hole. i popped the bubble to get the water out and i tried to sqeeze out as much water as i could with a putty knife.
what should i do here? i plan on patching the roof with roofing cement and replacing the shingle. should i be worried about any water that is still soaked into the insulation? will that eventually dry out? will the sheetrock dry too? i need some help here please
