My washing machine has been leaking for a couple of years now. However I don't think it leaks every time it's used.

It's been suggested that the loads were too full, so we tried putting in lighter loads and no luck.

It's also been suggested that it's a problem with the filter, but this has been investigated and it's still leaking.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what the problem could be and any DIY ideas on how to solve the problem?

So why didn't you just get it fixed under warranty?

Because I'm a terrible procrastionator and was looking into buying a home at the time so I just ignored the problem.

I know, bad idea and I regret not sorting it sooner now but no point worrying about what could've and should've been.

No. What do I need to do to check? That they have no holes in them?

Thing is it doesn't leak every single time its used so that doesn't seem likely.

I'd pull the unit away from the wall and take the back off.
Run a short cycle and keep an eye on the back while it's running to see where the water is getting out.

Do as Ron suggested. The hoses have rubber washers where they connect that can leak. Check the drain hose for leaks after the machine finishes a wash cycle.

Mine leaked off and on

We found that the drain hose was cracked right in the bottom of the first bend in it that was resting on the floor and it would leak I guess during a shaky spin cycle only. It would hold together all the rest of the time and work great. we had actually taken the thing outside and taken the back off and hooked it up to a garden hose and cycled it before it showed up. Had we closely inspected that hose we could have saved quite a few hours of work. The replacement hose cost $13.00 and change, to change it out.
