I have a Rheem 3 ton R410A split system. The valve stem on the suction side has a small leak. Is there a way to repair the stem with out replacing the valve or loosing the charge? It is leaking from around the stem on the service valve where you use a allen key to open and close the service valve

the stem can be tightened. there is a tool that will tighten it. may be able to get one at a bike repair shop. if the doesnt work the stem can be replaced...but you will lose all the charge then

Thanks for the reply, but what I am talking about is not the schrader valve. It is leaking from around the stem on the service valve where you use a allen key to open and close the service valve. I hope I explained myself better?

there is no easy fix for that. i would seal up the cap that covers the allen wrench port
