I replaced the faucet on my kitchen sink. When removed the old faucet the nuts holding it in were frozen, and the bolt started spinning with the nut. When the bolt gave I hit my hand and ratchet handle on the sink drain, now water is leaking from around the drain.

Can i just caulk around the bottom of the drain, or is there a gasket or seal that i need to replace?

its not just that rubber gasket. you should remove the drain assembly completely and redo the plumbers putty around the top and also replace the rubber gasket on the bottom.

make sure to clean off all the old putty before you reinstall.

Thank you.

That is what I was thinking i just wanted to make sure, and I don't want to trust anyone from home depot to tell me how to do it right.
