I had just recently discovered that my roof is leaking after a really heavy rain and wind storm. My wife noticed the paint on the corner of the ceiling is starting to peel. I looked closer and I can see where the paint is beginning to bubble in spots. My ceiling starts flat then shoot up at a 45 deg. angle for about 35 feet following the shape of the roof until it peaks. The leak is on the corner of the flat connecting to the 45 deg angle. It's a split level home.
I poked a hole in the largest bubble, but got nothing. There has never been any water escaping around area. This is also in a location that the roof joins together and creates a channel for the rain... If that makes any sense.
I went up into the attic and can see a little bit of water damage on the roof beam, but from all I can see, that is the extent of it. Have not had any issues other than it is an eye sore in that spot.
Is this a common issue in heavy rain and wind storms? Does it sound like the entire roof needs replaced or just shingles? Is there something I can put up there other than a plastic camo tarp to get me through the winter?
Thanks
