I picked up a rental property and would like to redo the floor in the kitchen. Friends have told me to use the peel and stick.. I'm not a fan. lol; so the house is old and the original flooring is the old wood plank, then what looks to be 1/4 inch luann and peel and stick over that.. I'm wondering what do I need to put down as a base on top of that in order to then put down vct tiles? Thanks in advance

You're supposed to install another 1/4" underlayment either on top or remove what's there. But, since you're going inexpensive and it's a rental, some might go over the old if it's in good shape. Don't expect it to last a long time though, and it's likely the old pattern will show through to the new tiles. But again, it's a cheap fix.

If you wanna go better, go with sheet vinyl.
