Our washer flooded the laundry room. By the time we realized it, a lot of water had washed down the floor vent into the air ducts in the basement. The duct holding the water goes directly to the top of the furnace. We drilled a hole into the air duct to empty the remaining water. What should we do next? We replaced the air filter and are running the AC right now to see if everything is okay. The outdoor air compressor hasn't kicked on yet. What do you think?

I would recommend you get a servicetech to check the furnace for water damage. If any water makes it way down to the circuit board or other expensive part then you may end up with a $500+ repair bill. A service call may be a lot cheaper.
