large areas of moss

I have a large backyard with lots of moss growing...I have large trees and low quality soil.....Do I have to till up all the moss and plant shade grass seed?...will the seed win the battle or will the moss grow back?...Money is very tight..I have a tiller so if anyone can help me with cost effective options to remendy this,I thank you

You also need to get the ph right in the soil. Moss will only grow if the soils ph is high( Or low,I forget). Go to you're local county extension office and have it tested.
