You shouldn't need any new underlayment for vinyl plank, whether you are using grip strip or click lock vinyl. In fact, it needs to be applied over a hard surface. Don't forget to leave 1/4" around the edge for expansion and contraction, and be sure to not pinch any of the edges of the flooring. It needs to be able to slide in and out under your trim pieces as it expands and contracts. Using a business card under the trim pieces as you install them will help allow the necessary movement. (Pull the business cards out when you're done :) )
