looking to move into a condo, tile on the floor now. Would like wood floors or something looking like wood. Was told if we put in the wood, the tile needs to come up. If we use the laminate the tile can stay down. Any suggestions?

I would leave the tile and go over it with laminate. More than likely the sub-floor is some kind of light weight concrete that you could not put wood on.
