Anyone use the new L.E.D. lighting strips as shown below?

Thoughts and feedback?
In the middle of ripping out my kitchen to the studs and sub floor and redoing it all... I was going to use these for under the counter in the kitchen and cabinets I think...

I used them on top of cabinets for accent (mood) lighting. I do not think they give enough light for under-cabinet task lighting.

They have become fairly common. There are waterproof and non-waterproof varieties. Waterproof are only slightly more. If you want to use it, get a bulk roll off of eBay. A 15' roll is $23, or $28 for the waterproof. You'll need to provide/buy a 12vdc transformer. I agree they are best as accent lights and not task lights.

Do they make bright enough for Task lighting?

These LED lights are used quite extensively in the UK. I'd say that when used under a counter/worktop they provide a very nice light effect on the front of the cupboard doors. They are also often used at the bottom of kitchen cabinets where a recessed kick board/plinth or even the floor can also be lit with the same results.

I would hesitate to use these under the wall cabinets for task lighting a single strip of lights is going to leave you wanting.

So in short the answer form the lighting man is...

Decorative lighting - big yes

Task lighting - err no not really

Have you guys looked at sights with the newer SMD and CREE LED strips and/or ropes in a daylight white color temp around 4500-5500 Kelvin? I have retro'd the lights in my camper to LEDs and all around the exterior of my house and garage to LEDs and am now looking at finishing the kitchen floor/countertop/top of upper cabinets to LEDs and the daylite white versions are very task oriented. The colored varieties are a lot dimmer, but it seems to me that it all depends on what you want to do with the lighting. White would be kind of harsh for mood lighting, but with the right PUCK driver and an electronic dimmer built for LEDs they would be very nice I think.
