I would like to extend my entryway into my kitchen by a couple of feet. I think it would open up the kitchen a lithe more. Any ideas or helpful tips. i dont have spare tile or carpet to cover the gap that will be created by doing this, what are your thoughts on getting a nice piece of oak and staining it to match the cabinets. The gap would be about 5".
