I am getting ready to texture my walls and ceiling with a knockdown pattern . since the pva primer drys white ,what would happen to the texture if I colored it with my wall paint ,so that it is easier to see after i shoot it onto the white primer. then when i go to "knock"
it down it stands out . Would it be "gummier" and there fore ball up when a trowel it?
Would it hurt to add the color to the PVA primer instead ?

I've done hundreds of textured ceilings and never had a problem seeing the difference.Your primer dry will be white and the texure mud while wet will be more gray.
If you think it will make it easier for you or be an issue have the primer tinted at the store.

I wouldn't add paint to the texture. It makes the texture knockdown differently than just using regular mud. The best bet would be to add a little tinted color to the primer. I would think that where ever you got the primer they would throw in some tint for free.
