New construction, I want ceilings knock dow texture but keep walls smooth, what is best way to do this without getting a lot of texture on walls?

I like light knock down on ceilings. Do the ceilings and be careful of the walls. Have a damp sponge at hand if you say oops. We never cover walls in new work.

I don't worry about keeping the texture off of the walls but just scrape them [while the texture is still damp] and then sand the walls once dry. IMO that is quicker/easier than masking off the walls .... and invariably the masking will fall off somewhere just as you start to spray that area.

Scrape it off the walls while you are waiting for it to set up on the ceiling. Or, leave it on the walls.
