Knob and tube wiring found in bathroom ceiling

I am installing a new bathroom ventilation fan and light in the bathroom where only a light was. When I cut into the ceiling to get to the joists where the housing wiil be hanging, I found knob and tube wiring. Is it safe to install the ventillation fan/light combination without changing the wiring and how do I ground the fan since the knob and tube does not have a grounding wire?

Run a new wire back to the panel.
trace the wires back. you may not have to go all the way to the panel. = a bunch of this in my house.
It is not permitted to extend an ungrounded circuit. Since you have the ceiling open I would try and replace the K&T.

Trying to replace K&T can be a daunting task.
A new circuit from the panel for the bathroom fan is needed.
I can be daunting . Just saying while it's open do what you can. I know people who are being forced by their insurance to replace it or lose coverage.
i am replacing all of my K&T. the whole main floor of the house has it. its not that big of a deal. though getting to it can be a BIG deal. anyway. the basement was all upgraded. and the K&T was used to go up from the new basement wiring.
my point is,perhaps they left the K&T in some areas and connected that to new stuff somewhere else. so he may not have to go all the way to the panel.

look at the panel and see what is connected to it.
