I've recently redone my kitchen with the newer deep sinks and a disposal on one side. The drain is at the same level but now with the lower sink the drain into the wall is just 2 inches or so below the disposal discharge. Will that work?

The drain runs horizontally for 5 or 6 feet in the wall, behind the cabinets before it drops down into the basement. Because of that it would be cost prohibitive to drop the drain line. Other options would be to get a more shallow sink, which again would be expensive and not appealing for other reasons. So, the only viable option if the 2 inches isn't enough will be to do without a disposal, picking up 3 or 4 inches in the process. Can I get by with the drain being only 2 inches lower than the disposal (with a p trap in between)?

Get rid of the disposal 90 and purchase a disposal drain kit.
Trim the disp. tee down to minimum length to make the connections and you may make it.
Or, in your picture- the trap is backwards. Turn it around and shorten the tee-- might work too
Here is one I did a while back-- notice the trap arrangement.

Thanks for your response.
I understand what you are saying. I knew the trap was backwards but was running out of space.
Ok, I can trim the length, turn the trap around, but still the disposal discharge is only going to be 2 inches above the drain, no matter how far/short it goes down and back up, right?

My question is whether that 2 inches is enough, especially considering that it travels laterally for 6 feet then before it goes down to the basement? Am I pressing my luck? (although I know some don't like disposals, I'd really like to keep it if I can)
