Here is my situation:
Total kitchen remodel.
Wall cabinets in- Base cabinets in place but not screwed to wall.
Appliances arrived (in garage)

Looking for a general order to go from here.
Do I screw all base cabinets in and then slide dishwasher/oven in- or start on one end ans work my way down? In other words- get dishwasher hooked up and then screw sink cabinet to wall etc? then work my way down to stove? Just want to make sure if I need to move something a fraction or so- I still can to accomodate appliances.

In most cases you start in the corners and work your way way out.
Without seeing what exactly you have it's hand to suggest a whole lot.
Do you have cabinet clamps.
Have you marked where the studs are?
Do you have cabinet screws?

I like to mount the uppers first so I don't have to work over the base cabinets---but that is not a 'must do'

First step is to establish the high point in the floor----using the longest level you have--determine the high spot---mark a line on the wall 34 1/2" above that spot--(check the height of your base cabinets in case your cabinets are not 34 1/2")

Snap a level line using that mark----this is what you will use to level the cabinets---start in a corner--lazy Suzann if you have one---

Start champing the face frames together and pre drilling and screwing the cabinets together---the doors must be removed so be careful not to mix them up----shim the bottoms and screw the backs to the wall using your snapped line---when you get to the dishwasher hole----

DW is 24" wide opening----if you are smart you will cut two 24" wide spacer sticks---add a longer stick on top of that---then clamp the spacer to the cabinets----it's a common error to have that opening shift and ruin your installation,

Check your walls for plumb before you start----coping the cabinets or a filler might be needed to keep the cabinets level against a crooked wall.

paint first if you haven't. start in a corner like joe said. its easier if you mark all the studs first then you can put the cabinets in easier and faster. usually the floor is done before appliances go in. some people prefer to do the floor before the cabinets. i raised all my cabinets up 3/4 of an inch to compensate for the tile floor i was installing. always check your floor to find the lowest and highest spot. if you start at the highest spot you can shim the other cabinets up to that level. if you start at the low point you will be ripping the toe kick off to get the cabinets level. if you measure up at the high point and strike a level line around the wall you have a reference point for all of the cabinets.

Like Oh'mike said establish the high spot of the floor first!

remember the 24" for d/w is measured from the lip of the cabinets ,and not the body
