Is there a way to adjust the hot/cold ratio in the faucet? its very hard to find the right spot that isnt either cold or skin melting. I'd rather not have to turn the water heater down, and was hoping for some kind of flow adjustment in the faucet itself.

Yes there are ways. You purchase a 3/8" thermostatic mixing valve. It mounts under your faucet. Connect the H&C supply lines to it and the tempered water is delivered from the outlet. You can set the temperature for what is best for you, but there is a limit set by code.
There are several on the market. This is a very basic one I have used often for public lavatories -- https://www.supply.com/browse?refin...hGBN6Wy3zxbR4HHKTa6pFwv5SApK2dfhoC_FcQAvD_BwE

Flawed logic.
If the incoming water is warmer in the summer the water heater will just run less but will still come out at the set temp. not get hotter.
But your cold water temp. may increase.

Well, I realize that, and thats what it is then. This is my second summer living in this house, and this is the second time I've noticed the water gets a lot hotter when it warms up
