I got a bit of a problem...

Do you know those copper tubes that stick out of the bottom of the faucet and at the end there is a thread that you connect your flexible tube to?

Well one of them in our faucet has broken when I screwed the tube back on!

I think it was creased by being bent against the... skirt of the faucet that has threads for the nut to screw onto.
Then when I screwed the tube back on, it broke! :vs_shocked:

The damn faucet was like $100! And the damn thing broke! Such a poor design of the copper tubes that break so easily! :vs_mad:


So... is there any way to fix this??? Can the copper tube be soldered together with a coupling? Or is the faucet ruined?!

They do make 3/8 inch couplings but you will need to have nice rounded pipe to attach it to on the faucet.

I would use a Sharkbite 3/8"x1/2" MNPT male adapter. Cut the copper above the kink to make sure it is round.

Ok I will look into the Sharkbite connectors...
The damage is right at the skirt so it is hard to access but I found that the skirt can be unscrewed from the faucet so that I have full access to the tubes. Problem is how to get the skirt off because it is narrow and the thread connectors at the end of the tubes are in the way... hopefully I can get it off.

I got the metal skirt off without much trouble. Here is what it looks like. Can a shark ite connector fit there?

Clean up both broken ends real good and get one of these...

Where the break is located I think a Sharkbite or a compression fitting will be too large. I would get a 3/8" sweat coupling, a short piece of 3/8 copper tube and a 3/8 by 1/2 male adapter.

A 3/8" Sharkbite connector was way too big! Even a 1/4" Sharkbite connector was too big!!!

I tried a "Watts 3/8 OD Compression Coupling". It seemed like it was going to fit and I measured the outer diameter of the tube and it was 3/8 so it should have fit!

It took a forkload of force to tighten that piece of garpage before it would actually hold on the tube... the first tube finally became secure after tightening it bloody hell damn tight... but then the other side did not hold and I tightened that overpriced piece of garbage as tight as possible and the bloody tube was atill flapping around in the breeze! Then the other side became loose!!!!!!!! absolute hell nightmare piece of garbage coupling and it cost freaking $6!!

Is a sweat coupling a simple copper sleeve that needs to be soldered?

And yes I cut the tubes so the ends were round and filed them nice and smooth!
