Hello. I am currently painting my kitchen cabinets. They were originally stained and this is what I have done:

One coat of primer and two coats of paint (all 3 are water based).

My question is,

Is it necessary to put a coat (or more) of polyurethane over the 3 coats of paint that are already on the cabinets?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!
