Hi there,

I've been burning two 8" red cedar channel siding boards at the same time, then putting the charred sides face to face and onto a pile without stickers (spacing boards). I thought I was going to be able to install the siding this summer but I had a few setbacks and need to put the job off until Nov/Dec because I need to leave the country for work.

The wood's been kiln dried and sitting burnt in my piles for about a month like this in room temp (not too cool) ventilated area.

Do you think I can get away with this for another few months?

What signs do I look for if the wood is having trouble staying in good condition?

I wouldn't use DDAC or chlorothalonil, as they are both quite toxic. Thiabendazole is much less toxic and prevents the growth of mold.

However, given that the wood's already dried and stored in a dry location with lots of air flow around you should be fine and not need any treatment at all.

Storing/Stacking Cedar Siding Without Sticker/Spacers

Thanks for mentioning those products. I've never heard of them before.

I guess I'll roll the dice and see what happens.
