I have a kenmore washer. I was doing laundry and the cold water would not shut off and the washer overflowed. I tried to wash again and it is doing the same thing. Any ideas of what is wrong and can I fix it or should I scrap it?

Sounds like your inlet valve is bad. you can pull up yor model no on Sears parts direct,get part number,probably get it cheaper, at local parts hose.
