Have a metal transition strip between dining room carpet and kitchen floor. See pics. Over the last few years, the two end nails have worked themselves out. The nails are 1 1/4 inch brass with grooves that twirl around the nail top to bottom.

How do I fix this to keep the strip down?

I would buy a new strip and cut it so the nail holes are in a different spot. That one is hammered and bent, new is not expensive. Ring shank siding nails are longer but the head color might not match.

I agree with new replacement, and cutting to change the hole locations. If not, you could try nailing at a slight angle and beat the head flat at the end. Not too much angle then the nail head will not be flush. Also, all nails may be in the subfloor joint or close to it.
