Hi,
We wanted to redo our bathroom floor as a number of the tiles are loose and popping up. Removing the tile was a breeze... minimal effort needed and removed most without them cracking (that's how loose they were).
As such the backerboard is in great shape. It has some thinset that I can easily scrape off (see pictures). The one on the top shows the thinset and the bottom shows with a little scraping.
The question is should I remove the backerboard and start anew or can I use the existing backerboard. I'm a little worried that the reason the tiles that were set 7 years ago popped so easy is because they didn't thinset the backerboard to the subfloor and there was flex.
Any thoughts?
thanks
