Would it be within code to have a basement subpanel fed with a 6/3 with ground Romex (50 amp breaker at main panel feeding sub with no main breaker)that is spliced in a junction box between main panel and sub. The question arises due to having to move the subpanel. If allowed what would be the best type of junction box and would wire nuts or crimp connections be better.

Thanks
JM

Large blue or grey wire nuts can be used to splice the #6 in a junction box.
