Howdy,

I need to install jamb extensions around a vinyl cased patio door. Any good suggestions on how to attach oak extensions to the vinyl?

Don't worry about attaching it to the vinyl.

Attached it to the framing with finish nails and caulk between the oak jamb extension and vinyl door (if desired).

Cooke is right, I'd only add that you'll likely need to add shims behind the extensions to "build them in" to sit where you need them to. You can nail into the vinyl if absolutely necessary, but prepare for the warranty to be void if you do so.
