First of all, I’m working on a shed, not our house. I using vinyl siding that match the house and vinyl windows. My question deals with how to install the J molding around the windows – the corners of the windows are not square! The windows are inexpensive, and it looks like the corners were sort of crimped together which leaves a bump at each corner that protrudes out about 1/8 inch at a 45 degree angle from each corner. I hope that is understandable!

I have three choices (especially since this is a shed!

1. Trim each piece of J to fit between the tabs and not worry about the rain worthiness ( I double rain will get under the eve and hit the top of the window anyway.
2. Shave down the tabs, but I’m not sure if that will affect the structure of the windows.
3. Install the J molding with a 16th to an 8th inch gap, leaving room for the tabs.
Any suggestions?

That bump as you call it is pretty common on new vinyl windows. You just carefully cut it off with a razor knife with a new blade then J the window.
