These pictures show the trap that is the drain to the shower. The shower is a Jacuzzi tub, if it makes a difference, I doubt.

The issue, since the day we moved about 8 months ago, is how slow it drains. While taking a shower the water will drain slowly and your left standing in about a inch of wash water. The water will completely drain only when the water is turned off.

My logic tells me one of two things:
1) the pipes are too small
or
2) this trap is wrong.

I know the basics of plumbing, water runs downhill and hot on the left. Other than that I am in the dark on this one. I have used a snake to clean the drain, found nothing, even tried to use Drano to clean the drain, thinking it would help the drain faster.

The area is very tight to work in, however I am open to cutting the copper lines and moving them if I have too. Please help.

1-1/2 is the common size for a tub and 2 inch for a shower. this looks like a tub from what i can see. do you have a lever on the back of the tub that you flip to take a bath? it might not be adjusted to open all the way or maybe clogged with hair. the way it is piped isn't the best either, is there a vent on the drain line somewhere?

There is a lever to "plug" the drain to take a bath.

No vent on line. It drains directly into the main stack.

You've cabled the line to the main stack?
You've removed all the stopper assembly and checked the flow?
Then I'd say the issue is in the trap design. It's not vented and is too high.
It should be at the same level as the pipe that serves the trap. It appears to be 1.5"- the correct size

Unjust trip lever and check for hair clog also no vent not going to drain as good as with one

What you've got is an S trap however this may not be the cause of the slow drain could be if not pitched or vented properly follow some of the recommendations that other have posted. under my code minimum trap size needs to be 2 inch.
