I need 5 - 12 AWG wire nutted in a junction box. Is that too many? What color is that nut?

Your wire nut package should have a listing of how many wires are supported.

I believe the max a red-winged nut can handle is 5 - #12s. I recently did this but used the Big Blues. As mentioned, check the package, it will tell you the maximum and minimums of each size.

Thanks, I saw 5-12's on a pack of reds...I wanted to hear from experience. I'll get a couple of both.

Depends on the type of nuts. This type the red one can hold up to 5 #12.
