I have a Tech 4 Consolidated Industries funace (don't know the year) Model MBA 080 NH3R - its behaving oddly so I got online in an attempt to find the sorce of the proplem. I have found a lot of info on Cosolidated funaces causing fires!!

Do I have one of the models that falls into this fire-starter category?

Also - I'd like to know a little about what may be happening with my furnace when I have a pro HVAC person come to the house for a service call. Or better yet, I'd like to fix the problem myself if not to complicated.

Perhaps someone could give me an idea of what is happening...

The thermostat clicks on.
The blowers inside the furnase come on.
I see the yellow "starter" flame come on.
Gas flow begins and the 4 blue jets start up.

Usually the furnace will run for 5 to 10 minutes before the trouble begins.

The issue is that the blue jets will go out. The starter flame kicks on again and the jets start up again...then go out again within seconds. This will happen about 5-8 times before the jets stay on for an extended period. Sometimes the series of events only happens once per heating cycle, other times it will happen two or three times per cycle.

Any advice on what is happening here?

I read about cleaning the flame sensor online...but I can't locate a manual for this model and I don't have a clue where the flame sensor is at though I have a pretty good idea.

Anyone know where/what the flame sensor looks like in this model?

Thanks!

It's a metal rod that sticks out in front of one of burners. Usually on the furthest burner from the igniter. Most of the time it has a bend in it but not always
