OK, so I'm trying to build the knee walls in the attic of my 60 year old house.

It looks like I've got the 20' (of 30+ ' total) of the knee walls "tacked" in place before "real" nailing. From one end, the walls are 178.25" apart. At 20', they are 176.75" apart. So, a 1.5" difference. Is this reasonable ??

I figure, at 30' maybe there would be a 2" difference.

Thanks for reading.

If I was off more than a 1/4", I would be correcting it.

If your going to put any type of sectional flooring up there, 2" is going to be a problem....

Fix it now....other wise if your in any way OCD.....it will kill you.

not only is it possible, it is necessary! if you want your room to be square? is the roof sagging? to cause the knee wall to hit differently?

I don't think the roof is sagging. Could be the 2 x 4's are bowed a little bit. I tried to make sure the studs were vertical. Should probably double check everything again. Thanks to all.

The roof should have nothing to do with keeping the wall straight.
Once the two bottom plates are straight and parallel just use a level to mark your top plate and cut each cripple to length, instead of just trying to build a whole wall and stand it up.
