insulation help!

We are remodeling a 40's house and we are wondering what insulation to use, kraft faced or unfaced? It is 2X4 construction with 1 inch sheeting and 1/2 inch wood siding. It has a tar paper vapor barrier between the sheeting and the siding and on the inside of the sheeting. We live in the Sacramento Valley. Basically, would kraft faced insulation be necessary or overkill?

Use kraft-faced to provide a vapor retarder on the warm side of the wall to prevent condensation on the cold outside wall.
