I'm building a steel framed deck and am currently up to the handrail stage. The posts are 4x4 steel tubing I've had powdercoated. we have always thought an outside mount would be best for my application; attaching two bolts at the 1" and 5" point of the steel stud rim joist; with some kind of backing support on the inside. The problem I'm having is the 45 turns; I have 4 of them on the deck. Do I cheat them out a bit over the sides, or do I have to use two? It doesnt seem like two would look good. The rails will be 2x3 L metal with belly ballusters. I figured on the 90's, it would be easy to cheat them out, but worry about the support. Any Ideas?
