hello. I have a few problems and hope that you can help.

1. My garage is small and appears to be cinder block built. If I want to put shelves up, what what I use to secure the shelves to the cement or cinder block so that they do not fall. What tools would i need?

2. The roof is pitched and if I wanted to attach a systems to the beams that would hang down and allow me to put up multiple shelves, what would be a brand name that I should look for?

Sorry if I seem completely clueless, not very good as a handyman but trying. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

What size are the beams you want to suspend shelves from?
How far apart are they? 16" OC, 24" OC ?
Are these joists spanning the garage?
How big is the garage?
What will you be storing on the shelves (weight) ?
Any pics of the area?

Are the roof rafters also 2x4?

It sounds like you have trusses
Which are not really made for additional load
An engineer woudl be needed to calculate loads & what you could add
Possibly you could add some 2x8's to span the 11' to add shelving

Are you looking to leave enough room for a car?
I'd run joists across the back 4-8' every 16" & put 1/2 plkywood up there for storage
In the back I'd build wall to wall shelving in the back 4'
I'd make it basically free standing
Maybe use the new joists up top as support (from tipping over)
And maybe a brace on each end for the same thing
