Our old home has copper pipes which are soldered... We are replacing the old tub with a soaker tub, the overfill on the new tub is two inches higher than on the old one. How do I rectify this problem (please explain in detail, if at all possible.)

Frustrated in Canada....:(

You will have to extend the overflow tube up to the new height of the tub. You may want to cut out the old drain and overflow and convert to PVC.
