Installing Nest thermostat

Hello guys!

Just closed on my first house today and ready to learn from you all!

I just bought a nest to replace an ancient thermostat but I was stumped when the RC wire jumped into the 4. Is this unit to old to be compatible? Or do I skip the 4 now and just plug it into RC?
