Installing Loose Lay (GLUE OPTIONAL) in bathroom

I am planning on updating the bathroom in my older 4 square home. The current floor-Vinyl i believe is still glued down well. Can i simply lay the Glue Optional flooring on top of it? The room size is 10x10 or is it to big for a loose lay application? The home is rented out and this is located on a second floor. Open to other inexpensive suggestions as well.
