Recently purchased a Hunter ceiling light/fan control switch, Model 27182. The fan that will be controlled is already installed. The existing light switch box contains 4 wires, 2 black and 2 white. The black wires are connected to the light switch and the white wires are connected together. The new controller has a black, red, and green wire. I need direction on how to properly wire the new control to the existing wires.

You will need to pull a new 14/3 romex from the switch to the fan.
Sometimes it can be difficult.
As an option, take your switch back and purchase the hunter wall mounted remote 27186. That will give you independent control without having to pull wire.
