Hi

I'm going to be installing a Ring Pro Video Doorbell. It needs to run off existing doorbell wires. The problem is, I don't have an existing wired doorbell so I need to run the wires for one. I know I will need a transformer but since it is the Ring Video doorbell do I need the doorbell box that contains a chime? I don't think so but I want to make sure.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a little insight into how it's done without an existing doorbell. Obviously you'll be running it from a self contained battery if you have no existing wires at the location.

I'd run wires to power it if it was any way possible since a battery operated doorbell doesn't ring my bell.

ps. I know you don't want to hear my real opinion of this way of providing for a doorbell so I'll leave that to your imagination.
