Hey everyone!

I am thinking of installing this sink:

http://www.conceptbaths.com/vanities.htm (model tn-t900-bk)

I have two concerns:

1) I have a "block" I have to work around. (seen in renders)
2) My studs are not in the most desirable position.

I'm thinking of setting the vanity on top of the "block", and reinforcing it with an additional bracket below. (see images) Note: The last vanity was a pedestal, but I'm looking to get more storage.

What would you do? Suggestions?

This is an inelegant solution at best. If you want to suspend furniture off the ground, you would need to one, have a structure built to be suspended and two, blocking behind the wall able to hold it in place.

3D,
I have to agree with Ron. What's in the box obstruction? Any chance of either relocating it or at least extending it to the right so it at least looks like it is part of the vanity? Also, do you need more support on the left side where you don't have the stud showing? Is there an obstruction in the wall that would prevent you from taking out a square of drywall and putting in a piece of solid blocking between the left stud and the corner?

Why not cut out the back corner (back, side and bottom) and set the vanity on the floor, up against the side wall?

Then you would not have to do a thing to the wall.

Yes, I do need more support on the left side of the vanity.

The studs are inconsistent at best, it's a loft and built unorthodox.

What do you both think about placing a block of wood between the vanity and the drywall. The block would be drilled into the studs, then I'll the vanity into the rail and the studs, while sitting it on that "block".

The wall behind the vanity should be opened up and the blocking should be installed behind the sheetrock, attached to the studs.

Thanks Ron, are there any tutorials or videos describing this process on DIY?

Anyone?
You remove the sheetrock with a saw.
You measure between the studs you want to block.
You cut 2 2x6's for each bay and use 3" screws to attatch them to the studs.
You put back the sheetrock.
Tape, compound and paint.
You Tube might have a video.
