Hi Guys,
I just bought a Rain Bird ST600O and I am ready to install it.
First I have to remove the old one which is the one in the attached image.
My question is, do you know if I can twist the nut just below the old timer (1 on the image)?
I tried and it doesn't come off.
Or do I need to remove everything from #2 up?
Thanks a lot.

If you're removing the old Rain Bird box completely, you can probably just unscrew it from the wall and lift it off. It was probably installed by a homeowner or landscaper who didn't have all the proper fitting and just elected to set it on top of the conduits and not connect them properly.

You'll have to open that junction box up, disconnect the wires since there are junctions in there, and disconnect that conduit connector nut below. That transformer has a threaded spud this was screwed together with those fittings and the bell box before the assembly was mounted. Removing it will have to be the reverse of installing. Think backwards!

If there is room to spin the transformer inside the enclosure, then you won't need to take things apart. It doesn't look like that is possible but pictures have no depth rendition.

Be sure to turn off the breaker first!
