Hello!

I'd like to install a new set of ceiling lights in my room and I had a couple of questions.

Actually, everything is fine, except when comes the time to connect the wires! I don't have any specialised tape to isolate the wires, so I thought about using just regular scotch tape.

Is that hazardous?

If you have to ask, you shouldn't be doing it.

I agree. Sorry. Electrical isn't something you want to play around with without first having a basic understanding of the subject. No disrespect, but if you had to ask how to connect wires, and thought Scotch tape might work, I don't think you have that basic understanding.

I learned all the basics from Black & Decker's "The Complete Guide to Home Wiring". Very simple language, great pictures, and very thorough. It is a great comprehensive starter that also has some intermediate and advanced level stuff in there too.

I, indeed, am an absolute newbie in pretty much everything involving DIY. I can hit a nail with a hammer. ;)
