We installed a ceiling fan last weekend, which works great! However, the ceiling lights in the kitchen, which is adjacent to where the fan is now, won't turn on. They're recessed can lights.

The fan doesn't have lights, which is what we wanted. However, we planned on having our normal kitchen lights!

Any help is appreciated. If it's something simple, we would prefer to do it ourselves instead of calling an electrician--and paying an electrician.

Help!

How many and what color were the wires and cables in the fan box? Did you leave any unconnected?

Trial & error

There are 2 white wires & 1 orange wire. We tried all combinations of wiring & none brought the kitchen lights back on. :(
All wires are connected.

Okay, here goes.
Black & Blue fan wires to orange ceiling wire
Ground wire (green) from fan to 1 of 2 white wires from ceiling
White fan wire to other white ceiling wire

The green should not be connected to the white. I suspect that both whites go together.

yep, you lost your kitchen light neutral (a white wire) by not connecting it to the other whites. The ground wire goes to a green ground screw on the fan box, or to other bare or green wiwres in the box.
